On August 1, 1970 I finally was able to see the utopia my parents had been enjoying every summer on Lake George long before I entered the world. Every summer through childhood and adolescence I remember the quiet ride home in the back seat of the family car as we headed south on the Northway back to New Jersey after Labor Day, and I caught my last glimpses of the lake through the fluttering pines.  I remember bottling Lake George water in an old root beer bottle to bring home with me to keep on my windowsill until Memorial Day weekend of the next year when I'd pour it back into its larger body off our dock.  After thirty-two years of extended summers in Bolton Landing on Lake George, I finally invested in a piece of the Adirondacks for myself, and have been living here year-round ever since.
